| The Atwater Block Brewery - Located just a couple of blocks from the 1937 Koppitz - Melchers site (see April 1937, Modern Brewer, p. 39, et al.) this brewery produces a fantastic menu of top beers from their Silver Medallist Atwater Pilsner to my favourite two row malt, Kräussen Hell (one of which I'm drinking now). The brewery is also a terrific get-together place with relaxed restaurant and bar. If you do happen to stop in be certain to locate their wall-museum to the old brews of Detroit, which happens to include a little homage to our Koppitz! Ironically this modern brewery has no web page I'm able to find, which astounds me--if you guys at Atwater need a page My Services and Server Are Available! Let's get them online! |
